Dec. 2014: Honoring Lesa Pritchard

Here is a press release I put on the Humble ISD website honoring the Director of Student Services, Lesa Pritchard, for receiving the Supervisor of the Year award in the Humble ISD Newsroom website here.
I was able to secure local news media, The Humble Observer, to pick up my press release and I gave them my pictures to publish.

It got picked up by The Humble Observer. You can read it here.
In addition it was picked up by the Tribune and The Kingwood Observer. You can read the Tribune here and the Kingwood Observer here.

I took her pictures associated with both the press release and the Humble Observer news. The article reads as follows:

Lesa Pritchard, Director of Humble ISD’s Student Support Services, has been named Supervisor of the Year by the Texas School Counselor Association. The award was presented Nov. 13 at the TSCA conference in Dallas. There are more than 2,000 members in the TSCA.

“There is so much to say about her,” Darlene Davenport, Director of Guidance and Counseling at Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, said. “She is awesome. She is looked up to as one of the Houston Area Directors and is very knowledgeable in her field. Lesa is a stand-out leader and a role model. She sets the bar high.”

Davenport said that Pritchard was selected by the award committee because she has gone over and above the call of duty. From helping out at the last minute on projects to standing out by presenting at the TSCA conference, Pritchard has earned the respect of her peers. She educates counselors on new programs and procedures. Davenport said that Pritchard’s award was for bringing new programs and services for counselors on behalf of both Humble ISD and TSCA.

As Humble ISD’s Director of Student Support Services, Pritchard coordinates with school counselors at all schools. She leads the Department of Student Support Services, which includes guidance and counseling, health services, affective education, behavior instruction and homeless support. Pritchard has 34 years of experience in education, and she has been with Humble ISD since 2006. She helped open Atascocita High School and served as an AHS counselor for three years before becoming Director of Student Support Services in 2009.

She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from McNeese State University and her Master’s of Education in school counseling from Sul Ross University.

"If you ever get a chance to meet Lesa, you will realize that she has a wealth of knowledge and passion regarding her craft, and that she genuinely loves what she does.” said Dania Rovegno, Woodcreek Middle School Eighth Grade Assistant Principal. “She leads with compassion and strength, listening to other points of view and making the tough decisions when needed.  I consider myself very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work directly with her.”
